WEEKLY NEWS | Airlines Extension of the Cancellation of the Boeing 737 MAX
Southwest Airlines, the low-cost carrier cited it will extend the Boeing 737 MAX flight cancellations until February 8, 2020. They had already communicated the removal of the 737 MAX from it’s schedule through January 5 2020.
Southwest Airlines says the timing of the return of the grounded aircraft's is still uncertain. The decision will remove 175 weekday flights which is a total of 4000 daily flights.
"By proactively removing the MAX from scheduled service, we can reduce last-minute flight cancellations and unexpected disruptions to our Customers' travel plans," Southwest said in a release Thursday. "The limited number of customers who have already booked their travel and will be affected by our amended schedule will be notified of their re-accommodated travel according to our flexible accommodation procedures."
"We offer our apologies to our customers impacted by this change, and we thank them for their continued patience," Southwest concluded.
Other airlines such as American Airlines and United Airlines recently extended 737 MAX flight cancellations into January; however it is still uncertain whether they will extend into February at this time.
